(Lebanon, OH) - The Warren County Board of Developmental Disabilities has begun development on a mobile changing unit that will improve inclusion and accessibility at community events.
A universal changing table is an adult-sized changing table specifically designed to meet the personal care needs of individuals of all heights, weights, and levels of mobility. It provides caregivers with a convenient and safe space to assist those who may be unable to care for themselves, including individuals with disabilities, children, babies, aging adults, and people who use a catheter.
Many people, including those who receive services from the Warren County Board of Developmental Disabilities, require an adult changing table to be able to attend events and participate in activities in the community without having to leave early or miss out due to inaccessible restroom facilities.
The agency has purchased an empty trailer that will be retrofitted with:
- A height-adjustable adult-sized changing table.
- Doors for privacy.
- A wheelchair accessible sink.
- An ADA tilted bathroom mirror.
- Supplies including adult-sized diapers, gloves, tampons, etc.
This trailer will be available at request for public events and will be available to view at Warren County Board of Developmental Disabilities upcoming events in the community, including the agency’s Open House and annual egg hunt.
Modifications of the trailer will take place this summer. The trailer is expected to be open to the public in the fall of 2026.
The mobile changing unit will allow Warren County to align with a growing number of counties across Ohio that are prioritizing accessibility and inclusion at community events, ensuring our public spaces are welcoming and usable for all.
