(Warren County, OH) - The Warren County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) has developed a voting guide to support individuals with disabilities to vote in the 2024 general election.

The guide, which was reviewed and approved by the Warren County Board of Elections, is written in plain language and walks readers through voting in the upcoming November election, including:

●     Voting during an unforeseen hospitalization

●     Accessible voting equipment

●     Curbside voting and mail-in ballots

●     Requesting assistance for marking your ballot

●     Alternatives to signing a ballot

●     Other topics that pertain to voters with a disability

Although the guide was developed for voters with a disability, the guide includes information that pertains to all voters, including how to register to vote, important voting deadlines, and early in-person voting.

Over 25% of Americans have a disability, making the group the largest marginalized community in the United States. Disability Rights Activist Imani Barbarin spoke about the importance of accessible voting at the 2024 Synergy conference in Sandusky, Ohio.



“Things that impact the disabled community impact everybody,” Barbarin said. “Regardless of disability, everybody should have the right to vote.”
