Assistive Technology (AT)

Assistive Technology includes devices, equipment, tools, product systems, service animal training, or other solutions that help support a person’s needs and goals identified in their Individual Service Plan (ISP). These supports are intended to help individuals increase independence, improve daily living and vocational skills, enhance community involvement, and strengthen functional abilities.

Assistive Technology Rule

Communication

Technology that helps individuals express themselves, understand others, and increase participation in daily conversations and activities. This can include AAC devices, communication apps, visual supports, and speech-generating devices.

Home Safety

Technology that helps increase safety and independence in the home through devices such as door sensors, cameras, smart locks, alarms, and emergency alert systems.

Medication Management

Devices and reminders that help individuals safely manage medications, including automated dispensers, alarms, scheduling apps, and caregiver notifications.

Sensory Regulation

Technology and sensory tools designed to help individuals manage sensory needs, reduce stress, improve focus, and create calming environments.

Employment Technology

Supportive technology that assists individuals in the workplace by improving organization, communication, task completion, time management, and job independence.

Household Tasks

Tools and smart home technology that support independence with cooking, cleaning, laundry, and daily household routines while promoting safety and confidence at home.
