Supportive Families and Allies Group
The Warren County Board of Developmental Disabilities staffs the Supportive Families and Allies Group, an informal group of parents with children who have developmental disabilities. The group meets monthly, on the third Thursday of each month, to provide support and share information and resources for those who want to connect with other parents facing similar situations. Each quarter, the meetings will consist of a more formal structure, with a presentation by a speaker (or multiple speakers) to address topics of concern to the group. Members will be provided the most current information on State and local issues pertaining to those with disabilities, amongst other subjects. These quarterly meetings are alternatively held at 10:00 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. at the Warren C. Young Center in Lebanon.
The other monthly meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at various times and in various locations in the community. These monthly meetings are more social in nature, and set in a roundtable discussion format. The group meets for coffee, lunch or dinner so members can connect with each other and share their thoughts, feelings and challenges of parenting a child with special needs.
Parents are welcome to attend any or all of the monthly meetings and new members are always welcome.
